ISLAMABAD: Jehan Pakistan, a publication of the University of Lahore, hit the newsstands in Islamabad Monday morning.
The Urdu-language daily was expected to come out at the start of the year but got delayed after the group’s CEO Abid Abdullah quit in December. He had helped put together the entire launch team but was blamed for hiring staff at exorbitant salaries.
Jehan Pakistan, is barely three months old and was first launched in Karachi in November followed by Lahore in December.
The newspaper’s top story of the day is by Naveed Akbar and reads: ‘Prime Minister’s order – 395 licenses of banned arms issued in a day.’
A story on the back page by Editor Reporting Rana Qaisar reveals it has been decided to contact Dr. Tahirul Qadri for verification of election candidates.
Among others appearing in the maiden edition include Waqar Satti, Nasir Mir, Afzal Javed and Waqas Ahmed.
