PEMRA directs TV channels to stop misuse of religious titles
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has issued a directive to television channels regarding the misuse of religious titles by terrorists. The directive aims to prevent the glorification of terrorism through the media.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed all television channels to stop misuse of ‘respectable’ religious titles and qualifications as prefixes by terrorists. “Titles and qualifications such as Maulana, Moulvi, Qari, Mufti, Hafiz, Doctor/Engineer etc should not be used for the persons involved in terrorist activities, which tantamount to glorification of terrorism,” the PEMRA said in a letter to all TV stations. A comprehensive awareness campaign may be run on electronic media to expose and discredit terrorist outfits, it said.
