Taliban threat to Dr Aamir Liaquat

ISLAMABAD: Prominent television anchor Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain could be targeted by banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, says a threat alert issued by the Ministry of Interior.

The alert sent to Home Secretary, Sindh, the provincial police officer and director general Rangers on March 18, says the terrorists plan to target the anchor for his statements against 'moulvis'.

"He may be cautioned on his personal security and movement patterns. No other details on date, place and timings are available," said the alert while calling for extreme vigilance and heightened security measures.
