ISLAMABAD: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has served a legal notice on DawnNews Television for airing what he said was false news of a raid on his house in Karachi by law enforcement agencies. The notice asks the channel’s management to tender an unconditional apology within 14 days, otherwise a legal suit of Rs2 billion would be filed against them. The lawyer of the minister in his notice said that his client is a reputed, law abiding and educated citizen and is also an elected member of the provincial assembly. The notice says the channel telecast a baseless and fabricated story on May 29 and claimed that officials of secret agencies arrested Memon’s private secretary and recorded his statement besides seizing Rs2 billion from his home.
