Senior journalist arrested in South Waziristan
Sheheryar Mehsud, a senior journalist, was detained by the political administration in South Waziristan. He faces allegations related to ID card applications for Afghan nationals.

PESHAWAR: Senior journalist Sheheryar Mehsud has been arrested by the political administration in South Waziristan under the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR).

According to Pakistan Today he was being detained in Tank, which is the political administration’s camp office.

Mehsud, works for several newspapers as a columnist.

A group of journalists, who went to meet the assistant political agent in Tank, was told that Mehsud was taken into custody for allegedly signing/attesting ID card application forms of Afghan nationals.

However, Mehsud told fellow journalists he had only requested for cancellation/blocking of these identity cards a couple of years ago when pointed out by the relevant circles.
