President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Afzal Butt and Secretary- General Ayub Jan Sarhandi in a joint statement have expressed their most profound concern on sending references against judges including Qazi Faez Isa.
They said that Isa is one of the most respected judges of the Supreme Court and termed it as pressuring the judiciary by the government for unknown gains.
PFUJ said the entire journalist community stands with an independent judiciary and Qazi Faez Isa.
Independent judiciary is the only institution, which guarantees free media, freedom of speech and expression and human rights as per the Constitution of Pakistan. These are essential for any democratic society and country, and also strengthens democratic institutions and norms.
