PEMRA notice to KTN Entertainment for showing indecent content
PEMRA has warned KTN Entertainment for airing content deemed offensive in its drama serials. The channel is required to respond within seven days.

ISLAMABAD – Regulator PEMRA Monday issued a show-cause notice to KTN Entertainment for airing indecent content in its drama serials Maan and Dou Maum Batian on July 6 and 10.

A PEMRA media release said the characters in the plays are shown consuming alcohol, smoking, and indulging in vulgar dialogues in various scenes.

“The content aired is highly offensive to the commonly accepted standards of decency and against social, cultural and religious values of the society,” PEMRA said.

By airing such content, KTN violated various sections of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended by PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2007 and Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015.

PEMRA has given the channel seven days to explain its position and asked its chief executive officer to appear for a hearing on July 24.
