National Press Club elections on January 5

ISLAMABAD - Elections for the offices of the National Press Club, Islamabad for 2017 are to be held on January 5, the Chairman Election Committee Nasir Zaidi announced Thursday.

The Election Committee finalized the schedule in a meeting at the club. Iqbal Jaffri, Nasir Mir, Chaudhry Ahsan Premee and Munawar Naqvi, attended the meeting.

According to the schedule, nomination papers will be received from December 23-26 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Scrutiny and initial list of candidates will be displayed on December 27. Examination of papers by interested candidates will take place on December 28 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Filing of objections on nomination papers will be received on December 29 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Objections will be heard on December 30 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Provisional list of candidates will be displayed on December 30 at 10:00pm.

Withdrawal of nomination papers will be allowed on December 31 maximum by 10:00pm. The final list of candidates will be announced on December 31 at 11:00pm. Polling will be held on January 5, 2017 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

For the piositions of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and finance secretary non-refundable election fee of Rs2000 each will be charged while for the governing body the fee will be Rs1000 each, to be deposited along with the nomination papers.

Nomination papers can the obtained from the offices of Islamabad National Press Club.
