Discover Pakistan launches world’s first fully AI-powered English news channel
Discover Pakistan has unveiled the world's first fully AI-powered English news channel, Pakistan Today English News. This channel features AI-generated professionals and aims for round-the-clock reporting in multiple languages.

LAHORE – Discover Pakistan, the country’s leading infotainment channel and a pioneer in media innovation, has launched the world’s first fully AI-powered English news channel, Pakistan Today English News.

This groundbreaking venture introduces a complete lineup of AI-generated anchors, reporters, analysts, program hosts, and AI-driven production. The channel promises accurate, unbiased, and round-the-clock news coverage for a global audience, with plans to add a live AI translation feature soon, enabling broadcasts in over 40 languages.

The launch builds on Discover Pakistan’s earlier AI milestone — the debut of the world’s first AI-powered TV talk show on June 19, 2023 — in which CEO Dr Kaiser Rafiq appeared as his own avatar alongside three other AI characters.

The AI avatars for Pakistan Today English News use advanced facial and voice technology with over 1,500 facial movements and realistic gestures, powered by deep learning and natural language processing (NLP). These systems replicate human speech patterns, expressions, tone, and emotional nuances with striking accuracy.

A dedicated team led by Dr Rafiq, AI project head Ms Arooj Arif, and Haider Ali worked for months to bring the project to life.

With its main studio in London, the channel will operate globally via satellite and digital platforms. Its AI system gathers and verifies real-time news from vetted global sources, ensuring factual, unbiased reporting.

"Our vision for this AI news channel is not to replace human journalists, but to enhance and redefine the news-gathering and broadcasting process," said Dr. Kaiser Rafiq, CEO of Discover Pakistan TV. "By leveraging artificial intelligence, we can ensure a consistent, fact-based delivery of news, freeing up human resources to focus on in-depth investigative reporting and critical analysis. This is about harnessing technology to serve the truth more effectively and to provide an unprecedented level of information to our viewers."

Positioning itself as both a technological breakthrough and a forward-looking solution to modern media challenges, Pakistan Today English News aims to make journalism more efficient, accurate, affordable, and globally accessible.
