Defamation notice served on ARY CEO, program host

ISLAMABAD: A defamation notice of Rs500 million has been served on President and CEO of ARY News Salman Iqbal (pictured) and anchorperson of program ‘Khara Sach’ Mubashir Lucman for reportedly airing fabricated news against Prime Minister’s Adviser for Aviation Shujaat Azeem.
They both have been urged in the notice to withdraw their allegations against Azeem and tender an unconditional public apology.
The notice says that court proceedings for a fine of Rs500 million would be initiated against the accused if they fail to offer public apology.
In one of his recent programs, Lucman said that Azeem had sold a functional plane of Pakistan International Airlines to a company run by her daughter.
Azeem has, however, rebutted the allegation in the notice, saying her daughter is just a 16 years old student. He also clarified that the PIA has not sold any of its functional planes.
