ISLAMABAD: Zamir Haider (pictured) has formally joined News 92 Television as Bureau Chief Islamabad after resigning from Dunya TV in October.
With vast experience in both the print and electronic media, Zamir is expected to help News 92 take lead in the shortest possible time. The channel is set to go on air sometimes in January. At the important Islamabad station, Zamir will have four prominent reporters with him, all of whom quit Dunya to join this promising new channel. Senior Reporter Tikka Khan, is considered one of the top reporters covering PTI, Cabinet, Establishment and Health beats while Chaudhry Saghir is the lead reporter on Crime, Lower Courts, and Ministry of Interior.
Similarly, Mian Shahid excels in the Energy Sector beat and is also good at doing investigative reports. On the other hand Adeel Warriach, a young reporter has made his mark covering Supreme Court and the Election Commission.
The reporting team also features the talented Waqar Satti, Anwar Raza, Iffat Rizvi, Jamshed Khan and Tariq Mehmood. The reporting team and others on the party are just raring to go.
Also on the team will be two Senior Assignment Editors - Chaudhry Tasawar Hussain and Moinuddin Sheikh - both former Dunya TV men in Islamabad where Zamir until early October was the Bureau Chief.
Zamir's resignation was a significant setback for Dunya TV. He was on their launch team and joined them as a special correspondent in November 2008, a month before the channel hit the airwaves. In December 2012, he was appointed the Islamabad Bureau Chief.
Zamir has also had stints with Geo and Aaj News besides having worked for several newspapers. He is a Stanford University and University of Maryland Humphery fellow.
