Sixth anniversary of attack on Hamid Mir, findings of judicial commission still awaited
Freedom Network commemorated the sixth anniversary of the attack on Hamid Mir, emphasizing the lack of public access to the judicial commission's findings. The organization called attention to the urgent need for justice in cases of media persecution.

ISLAMABAD—Freedom Network on Sunday marked the 6th anniversary of the murderous assault on journalist Hamid Mir. It demanded the release of findings of the three-member judicial commission, which the government at that time had set up.

Mir, of Geo News, came under attack after arriving in Karachi from Islamabad on April 19, 2014.

Freedom Network said: "It is a matter of grave concern for media that findings into the attack on Hamid Mir have not yet been made public, thereby strengthening impunity against media in Pakistan and failure to provide justice to for him."

Mir, one of Pakistan's well-known journalists, was intercepted on the main Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi by gunmen who pumped six bullets in his body.

In a video message, Mir said that the judicial commission had not informed him about the findings, and they had not been made public.
