Sindh Police book ARY News presenter Arshad Sharif

HYDERABAD—Sindh Police have registered an FIR against ARY News anchorperson Arshad Sharif at a Hyderabad police station, accusing him of speaking against state institutions.

According to ARY News, the case has been registered at a B-section police station in Hyderabad, with police claiming that he was booked for speaking against state institutions.

However, ARY said that the FIR recorded the name as Ashraf Sharif, which showed it was hurriedly filed.

“His remarks during Matiullah Jan’s YoutTube show come under Sections 505, 153, and 131 of the penal laws,” the complainant, Tayyab Hussain, stated.

Former president of PFUJ, Afzal Butt, while talking to ARY News, said that the case against the tv anchor was a violation of press freedom.

Some legal experts said that Sharif narrated history and facts, and the FIR against him was a condemnable act.
