Shalimar Recording Company to terminate all staff
Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company has issued a notice terminating all staff by November 30, 2025. This decision follows financial difficulties leading to liquidation proceedings.

ISLAMABAD — An official liquidation notice has been issued by the liquidator overseeing the winding up of Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company (SRBC), declaring that all personnel, including permanent staff, contractual workers, consultants, daily-wage employees, and those on deputation, will have their services terminated at the close of business on November 30, 2025.

According to the notice, the decision follows an assessment of operational requirements under court-supervised liquidation and applies to everyone associated with SRBC in any capacity. Financial dues, including gratuity where applicable, leave encashment, pending salary differences, and other statutory or contractual claims, will be settled in accordance with company service rules and applicable law.

Legal background and previous revival efforts

SRBC operates the television network ATV and FM Radio 94.6, and has long faced financial difficulties, leading to liquidation proceedings before the Islamabad High Court. Earlier in 2025, the federal information minister proposed reviving the company, claiming a business plan and possible public-private partnership could bring it back online and protect the jobs of roughly 300 employees. The court had asked shareholders to submit a full revival package, but until then liquidation remained in effect.

Impact on employees and broadcast services

The liquidation will leave at least 280 of SRBC’s ATV employees jobless, along with many staff associated with FM Radio 94.6 and other broadcast resources. The notice clarifies that the cessation is procedural under liquidation orders and not a disciplinary or punitive termination.

What the termination means for media operations

With SRBC’s services terminated, ATV channel broadcasts and associated radio services under SRBC’s umbrella are expected to halt. For decades, ATV, originally part of a semi-government network that challenged state broadcasting monopoly, provided nationwide television programming under SRBC’s stewardship.
