Sami Ibrahim announces departure from BOL TV as new management takes charge

ISLAMABAD—Renowned journalist Sami Ibrahim has officially announced his departure from BOL TV, revealing that the channel has changed ownership, and new management has taken the reins.

In an extensive post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sami Ibrahim stated: "I would like to officially announce that I am no longer involved in Bol's news management."

He disclosed that a new WhatsApp group had been established, with bureau chiefs included, and highlighted that "Captain (Rtd) Jameel Ahmed informed the group participants about his role as the new channel's director."

Sami further conveyed that the newly appointed director has provided assurance regarding the forthcoming payment of salaries for June, July, and August. These payments are expected to be disbursed in the upcoming days following the finalization of the BOL TV purchase.

Reflecting on his tenure with the channel, Sami characterized it as an "unforgettable and beautiful" experience. He emphasized that the channel's owners had granted considerable editorial autonomy, making it one of the rare platforms where the editorial team held the authority to shape news content.

However, Sami also acknowledged the formidable challenges inherent in journalism. He shared his personal insights into the difficulties faced by himself and CEO Shoaib Sheikh. Sami expressed a profound realization of the arduousness of conveying the truth and the potential destructiveness of exposing the real face of rulers. He paid tribute to the courage of BOL owner Shoaib Sheikh and his family, remarking on their resilience in the face of conspiracies and wrongful imprisonment.
Sami Ibrahim's departure from BOL TV marks a significant turning point in his journalistic journey and a new chapter for the channel under the stewardship of its new management.
