ISLAMABAD: Samaa TV has moved quickly to hire a team of journalists to replace a group of staffers that bid audieu and joined DawnNews. Among those who have reportedly been taken on board by Samaa is Naveed Siddiqui, a former employee of rival Geo TV, who was abruptly and unceremoniously sacked in May. Naveed had joined Geo from Samaa and returns for a second stint at the channel. However, negotiations with his colleague Asim Ali Rana, who too was fired by Geo, are still on. The chances of he being hired are bright, an insider has told JournalismPakistan.com. Others who have been hired are Faiz Paracha (Waqt News), Usman Khan and Irfan Malik and Raja Mudassir (Aaj News) and Lubna of Sohni Dharti TV.
