RIUJ distributes Eid gifts among women journalists
The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists celebrated women journalists by distributing Eid gifts at the National Press Club. Notable figures from the journalism community expressed support for women's roles in the field.

ISLAMABAD—The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) on Thursday distributed Eid gifts among women journalists of twin cities at the National Press Club to honor their work.

Press Information Officer, Shahera Shahid, Secretary-General of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Nasir Zaidi, President RIUJ Aamir Sajjad Syed, Secretary-General Asif Ali Bhatti, former President National Press Club, Shakeel Anjum, and others took part in the event. Also present was Afzal Butt, former president of PFUJ.

According to a press release, Shahera praised RIUJ for honoring women colleagues, terming it an excellent way to acknowledge the professional contribution of female journalists.

She termed the role of women journalists commendable in creating awareness among masses about COVID-19, adding that "Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would support journalists and their press freedom."

Nasir Zaidi, Shakeel Anjum, Asif Ali Bhatti, and others also lauded the services of women journalists and committed to continue their support and struggle for the rights of women colleagues.

The women journalists thanked RIUJ and members of the organizing committee for arranging the ceremony.
