Rauf Klasra and Amir Mateen quit 92 News

ISLAMABAD – The duo of Rauf Klasra and Amir Mateen abruptly quit 92 News on Sunday where they appeared in the program Muqabil.

Both announced their decision on Twitter but did not cite the reasons for leaving the channel.

However, an insider tells JournalismPakistan.com that the two analysts were facing a pay cut to which they did not agree.

Klasra said: “I wish to inform my friends, viewers and well wishers that I have resigned from Channel 92 @92newschannel with immediate effect & shall not be appearing on the channel anymore. I thank all my viewers for their support & encouragement.”

Later, Mateen tweeted: “I have also resigned from @92newschannel thanks to all those who took interest in our effort.”

The duo had rejoined 92 News in February 2016 less than a year after quitting to join ARY.

During his career, Mateen has worked for The News as a senior reporter and has over 20 years of experience working with mainstream newspapers, BBC Radio, and TV channels.

He is known for his crisp writing and in-depth analyses on parliamentary proceedings and internal politics of different parties.

Klasra, from South Punjab, has worked with Dawn, The News, The Express Tribune, Rohi TV and Dunya News. He has also authored a book.
