PTV launches PTVFlix: Pakistan's answer to Netflix

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) has launched a new video streaming platform, PTVFlix, with an extensive library of programs that aims to become Pakistan's answer to Netflix.

This new over-the-top (OTT) platform will enable users worldwide to access PTV's vast content library, including TV shows, dramas, documentaries, sports, and other programs. The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms. Users can easily download it from the respective app stores.

The announcement was made by Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Twitter, who expressed her delight in launching the new platform. She stated that PTVFlix was initiated and started in July 2022 and is very close to her heart. She added that this new initiative would make PTV's rich library of content, both present and old, easily accessible to users.

Over the years, PTV has produced some of the most iconic dramas and shows, such as Dhoop Kinaaray and Ainak Waala Jinn, which became national treasures and remain a part of the collective memory of the nation.

PTVFlix will enable the youth to connect and older audiences to reconnect with TV content that left an indelible impact on countless lives.

The launch event was attended by entertainment legends, including Bushra Ansari, Javed Sheikh, and Khalid Abbas Dar, who congratulated the team at PTV and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for their hard work, making this idea a reality.

The introduction of PTVFlix is a significant step towards Pakistan's growing digital ecosystem, as the country's media industry has shifted its focus towards digital platforms. The launch of PTVFlix will provide local viewers with extensive content. It is also expected to attract international audiences interested in Pakistani content.
