PTV fires journalist Ahmed Quraishi for visiting Israel
Ahmed Quraishi has been fired by PTV after visiting Israel and meeting with Israeli officials. The government's stance is that his trip was personal and not official.

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Television (PTV) has fired journalist Ahmed Quraishi for visiting Israel and meeting with the Israeli President and other officials.

According to Information Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb, Quraishi has been sacked following the controversial trip. She emphasized that the anchorperson went on a "personal trip to Israel, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has categorically rejected the notion of any official delegation from Pakistan visiting Israel."

The FO spokesperson clarified that the visit in question was of Pakistani Americans organized by a foreign NGO not based in Pakistan.
