ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) plans to complain to PEMRA after a few television channels ran news about the party chairman Imran Khan having got married a third time.
Despite denials by PTI, the channels continued to air the news that made the party suspect it was a government ploy to divert attention from the Panama Leaks.
PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen said in a tweet: "Today's smear campaign by some sections of media against IK seems like Govt's hidden ploy to divert attention from #PanamaLeaks."
In another tweet he said: "Therefore the party has decided go to PEMRA against few channels that did not stop the smear campaign inspire of clear denials from PTI."
Khan himself denied news reports and tweeted: "Rumours abt my marriage absolutely baseless. I have not gotten married. When I do I will announce & celebrate publicly."
Khan's two previous marriages to Jemima Goldsmith and Reham Khan both ended in divorce. He recently said he was willing to marry again.
