PTI slams ARY News for airing 'baseless' report, announces boycott and demands apology

The controversy centers around a report broadcast by ARY News that claimed Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, had allegedly been pressured by Aleema Khan and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to "include or drop someone’s name."

Calling the claims “absolutely incorrect and baseless,” Waqas Akram accused ARY of spreading disinformation. “It is an attempt to malign Imran Khan’s family and the chief minister. I have spoken to Barrister Saif, who said he had not spoken to anyone in ARY,” Akram said.

He further stated that Aleema Khan was deeply disturbed by the report and viewed it as part of a smear campaign. “It is a pity that despite being a channel of stature, ARY is running the false news again and again and not even seeking PTI’s version and quoting only ‘sources’,” he remarked.

Akram announced a temporary boycott of ARY News programs by all PTI members: “We are telling all party members to boycott ARY programs today and not to appear in any of their shows. We will decide tomorrow if this boycott will continue.”

He concluded by condemning the broadcast and demanding a formal apology from ARY News.

The development adds to the growing tensions between mainstream media outlets and political parties in Pakistan, raising fresh concerns about responsible journalism and ethical standards in news reporting.
