Prominent journalists and ex-army officers face treason charges for provoking violence in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD—A treason case has been registered against senior journalists Shaheen Sehbai (pictured, left) and Wajahat S. Khan (right), along with two former army officers—Syed Haider Raza Mehdi and Adil Farooq Raja—for allegedly provoking violence against the institutions of national security.

In a tweet on Monday, the President and MD of BOL News, Sami Ibrahim, said the case had been registered at the Ramna Police Station by Mohammad Aslam, who lives in G-11.

The case alleges that the four persons, outside Pakistan, have provoked people against national security institutions and instigated treason and chaos. It maintains that the four accused are “agents” of foreign intelligence agencies and that they want civil war in Pakistan.

The two journalists and army officers regularly appear on Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms.
