PNP launches Letter of Excellence Awards to honor journalism interns

ISLAMABAD — The Press Network of Pakistan (PNP) has launched the PNP Letter of Excellence Awards, a first-of-its-kind initiative recognizing interns who completed the PNP Internship Program.

“This award initiative reflects our long-standing commitment to cultivating young voices in journalism and encouraging interns to engage with the nation’s most respected newspapers,” said Sabahuddin Qazi, Chief Executive of PNP, in a conversation with JournalismPakistan.com.

He explained that during their internship, participants were encouraged to write and publish impactful Letters to the Editor in leading national dailies. These letters not only raised pressing social issues and public concerns but also amplified youth perspectives, enabling interns to contribute meaningfully to national dialogue.

With the introduction of the PNP Letter of Excellence Awards, PNP aims to formally acknowledge interns who have demonstrated exceptional clarity, skill, and influence through their published letters.

The awards are exclusively open to interns from all 10 completed batches of the program. Eligible participants are invited to submit their published Letters to the Editor for consideration. This exclusivity highlights PNP’s mission of nurturing its own talent and providing young professionals with a prestigious platform to showcase their growth in journalism.

To ensure transparency, the awards will be judged across multiple categories by an independent jury comprising senior journalists, editors, and media professionals.
