PFUJ to hold protests against Israeli attacks on media outlets

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has announced countrywide protests on May 18 to condemn the Israeli attacks on media outlets in Palestine.

PFUJ, an umbrella organization of all the journalists’ unions in Pakistan, has asked its units to stage peaceful protest rallies outside the press clubs in their respective cities.

“We will express our complete solidarity with media and journalists in Palestine who were deliberately targeted by Israeli forces,” PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi said in a statement.

PFUJ told its units to make placards with slogans highlighting Israel’s targeting of civilians.

“The PFUJ has always stood up against oppression and we stand shoulder to shoulder with the media in Palestine and its people in this difficult hour.”

PFUJ also advised the journalists to take complete precautions and adhere to government SOPs while staging protests.
