PFUJ demands financial assistance for heirs of slain journalists

HYDERABAD: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has asked the government to provide financial assistance to heirs of slain journalists and link payment of advertisements to media houses with the payment of salaries to their employees.

Speaking at an All-Pakistan Journalists Convention in Hyderabad, PFUJ President Afzal Butt said the government should take steps to set up media towns across the country to facilitate journalists.

The convention was organized by Hyderabad Union of Journalists (Afzal Butt Group) and was attended by PFUJ Secretary General Khursheed Abbasi, Council of Pakistan Press Club Convener and Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, Ali Raza Alvi, Lala Asad Pathan, Mushtaq Minhas, Irfan Saeed, Lala Rehman Samoon, Khalid Khokhar and dozens of working journalists.
