ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed Neo TV to immediately stop illegal transmission of news and current affairs content and revert to its original programming of entertainment.
The regulator fined the channel Rs one million for persistent violation of rules.
PEMRA directed Neo TV to stop the violation of content category by airing news and current affairs program, which contravenes the PEMRA laws and revert to its approved programming content under terms and conditions of the license within seven days.
"Neo TV has been provided ample opportunity to revert back to its original content but the channel is continuously violating PEMRA directives as well as orders of the Honorable Islamabad High Court," the regulator said.
Furthermore, it warned of strict action against the channel if it continued to violate rules.
