ISLAMABAD – Acting tough, PEMRA Friday announced suspending Channel 24 license from 5:00pm to 12:00 midnight daily for seven days.
The ban that starts December 27 was slapped after the channel ran a fake audio clip of screaming passengers on board flight PK661 that crashed near Abbottabad on December 7.
The electronic media watchdog also fined the channel Rs1 million.
PEMRA said the news organization’s management was unable to furnish proof of the audio clip’s authenticity.
The decisions were taken during a PEMRA meeting held Friday.
