ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA is to hire the best lawyers to pursue pending cases in courts “professionally and vigorously” and to establish its writ.
This was decided during a meeting held at the PEMRA headquarters in Islamabad Monday.
Chaired by Absar Alam, the meeting entrusted him with the task of taking appropriate measures necessary for establishing the authority’s writ.
The house emphasized that PEMRA needed to ensure professionalism and should not shy away from taking difficult decisions.
The meeting also decided that if any urgent decision (like suspending a channel’s transmission) needed to be taken, a committee comprising the chairman, secretary interior, secretary information and one provincial member could do so.
