ISLAMABAD—Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have decided to enhance cooperation between state news agencies for the free flow of information, Radio Pakistan reported.
The two sides reached an agreement during a meeting in Islamabad between Farrukh Habib, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, and UAE’s Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi.
Both sides believed that news content-sharing between the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Emirates News Agency (WAM) would be a leap forward in the free flow of information between the two countries.
UAE established WAM in November 1976 to communicate news and information about the nascent state. On June 18, 1977, WAM began to fulfill its professional mandate by transmitting UAE news to the rest of the world, covering all aspects of its political, economic, and social development.
