ISLAMABAD - The National Press Club has formally begun scrutiny of its voters list following allegations many of them were not journalists.
In this regard letters and lists have been dispatched to newspapers, television channels, news agencies and magazines, it was announced Saturday. Their respective editors and bureau chiefs have been requested to review names of their employees on those lists and guide the committee accordingly.
Earlier this month the newly-elected club President Shakeel Anjum had named a scrutiny committee headed by senior journalist Saud Sehar with another veteran M. Ziauddin as member.
The press club said anyone wanting to identify a non-journalist can contact the club secretary and furnish proof.
