NewsOne ordered to pay pending staff salaries within a week
The Supreme Court mandated NewsOne to settle unpaid salaries to staff within a week. Royal News was also ordered to ensure timely payments to employees.

LAHORE – The Supreme Court of Pakistan (Lahore Registry) on Saturday ordered NewsOne Television to pay all pending staff salaries within one week.

The chief justice directed Tahir A. Khan and Seema Tahir to present a compliance report at the next hearing.

Asif Butt, President of Electronic Media Reporters’ Association (EMRA), represented the journalists’ community in court.

The court also ordered Royal News to pay off all salaries to its employees by December 12 and submit a report in this regard.

Khizer Hayat Watoo, CEO of Royal News appeared in court. He was ordered to pay staff by the 6th of each month in future.

EMRA President Butt told the court that the workers did no show up because they feared being laid off by their employers.
