Fahd Husain quits Express Group, joins Dawn as resident editor
Fahd Husain has resigned from his role at Express Group and will take over as resident editor at Dawn in Islamabad. His career spans numerous prestigious media roles across Pakistan and internationally.

ISLAMABAD — Fahd Husain, the executive editor of The Express Tribune and executive director news at Express News Television is quitting the media group to join Dawn as the newspaper’s resident editor in Islamabad.

A source tells JournalismPakistan.com that Fahd is presently serving the notice period at Express and will assume charge at Dawn sometimes next month.

Fahd was appointed the editor of The Express Tribune in September 2016, at a time when he was already serving as the executive director news at Express News.

At the Express Tribune, he replaced Kamal Siddiqi, who resigned after seven years at the helm.

Fahd has spearheaded the launch of three channels in Pakistan — Express News, Express 24/7, and Capital TV. He has also served as editor of The Nation and The News.

He began his career at The Muslim in 1991. In the 1990s, he worked at Pakistan Television (PTV) as an anchor for several shows. He has also worked at leading American TV channel CBS News in New York.

Fahd was also the anchor of Pakistan's first independent English talk show on Geo TV. He then worked as director international affairs at ARY TV.

He has also served as executive director news at Dunya TV and has hosted prime time talk shows on Express News, ARY, and Waqt News.

Fahd did his schooling from Aitchison College Lahore and got his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University USA. He did his Masters in Television Journalism from Columbia University in New York where he became the first Pakistani to graduate at the top of his class.
