Nadeem Farooq Paracha rejects Republic TV invite

ISLAMABAD—Dawn columnist Nadeem Farooq Paracha has turned down an invitation from Republic TV India to appear in Arnab Goswami's talk show, The Debate, calling the host an unabashed nutcase.

Paracha shared the picture of the message he received from the channel. He was asked to "join at 9pm India time today with Arnab. This would be on SAARC meeting cancelled after member states couldn't agree on Afghanistan participation with Pakistan insisting that the Taliban be allowed to represent Afghanistan."

Known for his rabble-rousing style, Arnab, in one of his recent shows, claimed that officials from Pakistan's ISI were staying on the Serena Hotel's fifth floor in Kabul. However, he was left red-faced and embarrassed when told the hotel had only two floors. His absurd claim became the subject of countless memes on social media.

Replying to the offer to be one of the guests on Arnab's show, Paracha used Prime Minister Imran Khan's phrase, "absolutely not." He added: "He's an unabashed nutcase, and so is the channel. Please don't ask again. Thanks."
