KARACHI - Popular television anchor Mubashar Lucman is set to leave Channel 24 and join Samaa TV at the start of next month.
He is most likely to continue his trademark Khara Sach program at Samaa.
The program first earned him fame and fortune at ARY. But the channel got fined nearly Rs30 crore and its license was canceled by a London court for airing unsubstantiated allegations against Jang Group owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman. Lucman never showed up at the London court to defend his allegations.
Later, he again received much notoriety after interviewing Qandeel Baloch. In that interview, the starlet shared a video exposing Mufti Abdul Qavi’s antics with her. She was found murdered at her parent’s home days later in Multan.
Lucman began his career in the electronic media with Business Plus and later moved to Dunya News in 2009. He was fired from there after off-air scenes of his pre-scripted interview with property tycoon Malik Riaz surfaced and went viral on YouTube.
He then joined ARY News where he made his mark with Khara Sach exposing lies and corruption of politicians and others.
Later, he joined BOL in 2015 but quit after the channel could not go on air and moved to Channel 24. However, as BOL got back on its feet in 2016, he rejoined them. Things did not work out for him there and he returned to Channel 24 in December 2016.
