ISLAMABAD – Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has welcomed a reported step by the newly-elected President of National Press Club Shakeel Qarar to crack down on fake journalists.
“All press clubs must follow actions of Islamabad press club, it’s important for institutional respect and dignity,” the minister tweeted, in response to a tweet by Dawn journalist Inamullah Khattak.

Khattak said that Qarar had launched an operation against fake journalists. He pointed out that the current strength of the club was 3000, but it should be less than 2000 members.
He called on the minister to take action against fake newspapers.
