Khalil Ahmed, Ayub Tareen elected President, Secretary Balochistan Union of Journalists for a second term
Khalil Ahmed and Ayub Tareen were re-elected as President and Secretary General of the Balochistan Union of Journalists in elections held in Quetta. The elections saw 98 journalists participating, with key positions filled largely by the Progressive Journalist Panel.

QUETTA – Khalil Ahmed (pictured) and Ayub Tareen, representing the Progressive Journalist Panel were elected president and secretary general respectively for a second consecutive term in elections of Balochistan Union of Journalists held Tuesday.

Ninety-eight journalists exercised their right to franchise. The election committee was headed by Musa Farman with Asif Baloch and Nadeem Awan as members.

Khalil polled 62 votes to defeat his rival Mustafa Tareen (36) and retain his position as president.

Khair Muhammad Baloch was elected vice president polling 63 votes with his opponent Aminullah Mengal getting 33.

Ayub Tareen kept his position as secretary general with 66 votes. His opposite number Habibullah Qalandarani got 32.

Chaudhary Imtiaz claimed the position of senior joint secretary bagging 64 votes, beating Hafeezullah Sherani (32).

Hamadullah Siapad was elected senior vice president unopposed as were Fareedullah Khan (joint secretary), and Salman Ashraf (secretary finance).

Eight members on the executive body were also elected unopposed. They were Saleem Shahid, Esa Tareen, Syed Kabir Shah, Manzoor Rind, Noorul Arifeen, Tahir Khan Nasir, Abdullah Zehri, and Malik Bilal Awan.
