Journalist Nasrullah Gadani attacked, moved to Karachi

SUKKUR–In a disturbing attack on press freedom, journalist Nasrullah Gadani sustained severe bullet wounds in an attack on his life in Kori Goth, 12 kilometers from Mirpur Mathelo near Sukkur. Gadani has been urgently moved to Karachi for advanced medical treatment.

The Freedom Network, a prominent press freedom advocacy group, reported the incident on its Twitter account, highlighting the gravity of the attack. It has called on the Sindh government to take immediate action to arrest the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.

The assault on Gadani underscores the persistent dangers faced by journalists in the region, who often work under threats and violence. Press freedom organizations and journalists unions have expressed their solidarity with Gadani and his family, demanding more robust protections for media workers in Pakistan.

Authorities in Sindh have yet to release an official statement regarding the investigation or the steps being taken to apprehend those responsible for the attack. Meanwhile, the journalist community continues to press for swift and decisive action to safeguard press freedom and the safety of its members.
