Journalist Khalil Gibran laid to rest after tragic shooting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

LANDI KOTAL—The funeral of journalist Khalil Gibran, who was tragically killed in Tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, took place on Wednesday amid an outpouring of grief and condemnation.

Gibran, a correspondent for Khyber News Television, was fatally shot while his colleague, Advocate Sajjad Shinwari, sustained injuries during the attack by unidentified gunmen in the Mazarina Sultankhel area the previous night. The incident has sparked outrage among the journalism community and beyond.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, along with the governor, the minister of information, the director general of information, and various journalistic organizations across Pakistan have vehemently condemned the killing.

Wali Khan Shinwari, a local journalist from Landi Kotal, expressed the profound grief and sorrow that has gripped the community following this tragic incident. He emphasized the need for justice and protection for journalists working in such perilous conditions.

In response to the murder, journalist organizations have announced plans to hold protests on Friday to demand justice for Khalil Gibran and to highlight the urgent need for greater security measures for media professionals.
