KARACHI – Anwar Mooraj, an eminent journalist, and writer who at one time was associated with Dawn, passed away Wednesday. He was 86.
Dawn reported Thursday that Mooraj was born in London on February 15, 1931. After partition, his family migrated to Pakistan.
He graduated from the London School of Economics and later opted for journalism, joining Dawn in the 1960s as an assistant editor.
In 1970 he became the founding editor of monthly The Herald. Between 1982 and 1985, he was the chief executive of Gulf News.
For the past few years, he had been writing a column for The Express Tribune.
He was to be buried at the DHA Graveyard on Thursday. He has left behind two sons.
