ITNE serves notices on Ausaf owners

The Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees issued show-cause notices to Ausaf newspaper owners and administrative officials over non-compliance with court orders. The case relates to unpaid salaries and other dues claimed by journalist Abdul Waheed and 152 employees.

Summary

ISLAMABAD: Nasir Hussain, Chairman of the Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees (ITNE), has issued show cause notices to owners and administrative officials of Ausaf newspaper for not implementing the court’s orders for two years now.

Chief Editor Mehtab Khan,his son and Editor Mohsin Bilal, General Manager Sabir Minhas and Accountant M. Imran were served notices.The court sought explanations why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them.

The case was filed by senior journalist Abdul Waheed and 152 employees of Ausaf and relates to payment of salaries and other dues. The court had ordered the newspaper managers to make the payments.

The court summoned the Ausaf bosses on June 7.

When the proceedings began, several union leaders were present. Among them was Pervez Shaukat, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists; JamilMirza, Secretary General of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists and QurbanSatti, Chairman of local All-Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation.

Also at the hearing were many former and present employees of Ausaf.
