Islamabad Police deny raid on Ahmad Noorani's home amid abduction claims
Islamabad Police have refuted claims of a raid on Ahmad Noorani's home, despite his family reporting abduction and assault incidents. Noorani, residing in the U.S., expressed concern for his brothers' safety.

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad Police on Wednesday denied conducting any raid on the residence of journalist Ahmad Noorani. However, a spokesperson for Islamabad Police confirmed to BBC Urdu that Noorani’s family had filed a complaint regarding the alleged assault and abduction of his brothers. Despite the complaint, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered so far.

Ahmad Noorani, who has been residing in the United States for several years, claimed on social media that his family was not only harassed but also subjected to violence in response to one of his investigative reports.

His mother has approached the Islamabad High Court, seeking the recovery of her sons. In her petition, she alleged that at 1:05 AM on Wednesday, her two sons were forcibly taken away by unidentified individuals, reportedly linked to two of the country’s intelligence agencies.

The allegations regarding the involvement of these agencies have not been independently verified, and no official response has been issued by the relevant authorities.

Noorani’s sister, speaking to BBC Urdu, said that the assailants who raided their house did not disclose their identities. “They assaulted my brothers,” she stated. She added that due to fear and darkness of the night, she could not see the uniforms of the attackers but noted that “two or three of them were wearing bulletproof vests.”

Expressing deep concern for her brothers’ safety, she lamented that she had no information about their whereabouts or condition.

She confirmed that a complaint had been filed at the Noon Police Station in Islamabad to register the case. “We contacted the Noon Police Station to file the case, but I am unsure whether an FIR has been registered.”

Ahmad Noorani was previously associated with The News. In 2017, he was attacked in Islamabad, sustaining serious head injuries.
