Imtiaz Alam's anti-Imran tweet draws angry responses
Imtiaz Alam's provocative remarks about Imran Khan led to significant backlash on social media. His confrontational responses exacerbated the situation, highlighting ongoing political tensions in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD - Imtiaz Alam, Secretary General of SAFMA, had a bitter day on Twitter after predicting that Imran Khan’s “ballon is going to bust in 6 months”.

His harsh tweet said the prime minister-in-waiting “doesn’t have a program; being propped up by establishment and have no sense what to do. He is authoritarian and reactionary.”

He received a spate of angry responses. Some said the veteran journalist had lost his mind. Others called him a “paid journalist”, as SAFMA was called an “Indian organization”.

To make matters worse, Alam continued to answer the young people in equally angry tone. He called one of the responders “stupid” and another “bastard”.

This is not the first time that he has picked up fights with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters on Twitter.

KEY POINTS:

  • Imtiaz Alam criticized Imran Khan's leadership on Twitter.
  • His remarks triggered a wave of angry responses from PTI supporters.
  • Alam responded harshly to critics, calling some names.
  • This incident is part of a pattern of Alam's clashes with political opponents.
  • The exchange reflects deeper political divisions in Pakistan.
