ISLAMABAD—Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan has initiated defamation proceedings against Geo TV anchor Shahzeb Khanzada and businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor in UAE.
Khan filed the suit following Geo TV's talk show Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath. In the program, Zahoor alleged he bought the Graff wristwatch, gifted to Khan by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, for $2 million, approximately Rs280m at the time of sale in 2019.
In a tweet on Saturday, the former prime minister said: "My UAE lawyers led by Hassan Shad have now filed criminal defamation (libel and slander) proceedings under UAE law against Geo TV, Shahzeb Khanzada and fraudster Umer Farooq Zahoor."
