Freedom Network condemns abuse of Dawn.com name
Freedom Network criticized the use of Dawn.com branding in misleading posts about the Pakistan Army. The post falsely accused the military of involvement in Arif Wazir's death.

ISLAMABAD - Freedom Network on Monday condemned fake news using Dawn.com branding to mislead the public and bring the paper in a clash with Pakistan Army. In a report, Dawn said that a post doctored as Dawn.com was shared on Facebook on Sunday. The post copied elements of the layout of Dawn.com's social media posts to malign the army by accusing the military of killing Arif Wazir, a leader of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement who died in Islamabad on Saturday. Dawn reached Facebook to register its complaint against the fake news post, but the social media giant kept mum, the report said. Photo: Dawn.com
