Fawad Chaudhry and Matiullah Jan in a tiff

ISLAMABAD— Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday reportedly misbehaved with prominent journalist Matiullah Jan and some other reporters.

PTI's Chaudhry and former federal minister Asad Umar were addressing a press conference outside the Supreme Court regarding the prevailing political crisis.

The situation became tense after Chaudhry dismissed the journalist's request to ask questions and accused him of taking money from certain elements by calling him "kiraye ka aadmi."

"People like you show up because they are for hire," Chaudhry said.

In video footage viral on social media, the journalist continued to ask about First Lady Bushra Bibi's friend Farah Khan, who fled the country amid severe allegations of corruption.

Several journalists tried to settle the situation and urged the former information minister to apologize.

The journalists then boycotted PTI leaders' media talk after he refused to tender an apology.

The Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), in a statement, also condemned Chaudhry's misbehavior.

Later, he took to Twitter and proudly shared the video, terming Jan a 'vulture of media.' "I will keep exposing others too," he wrote.

Video of the incident went viral on social media, with #MatiullahJan among the top trends on Twitter. People had mixed reviews on the incident as some criticized the journalist for apparently instigating the PTI leader, whereas others condemned Fawad.
