Fahd Husain back to writing column at Express Tribune
Fahd Husain resumes his Sunday column at The Express Tribune. He is also preparing to launch a new English-language channel under Express Media Group.

ISLAMABAD — Fahd Husain, a leading Pakistani journalist, has returned to writing his weekly Sunday column for The Express Tribune. He announced the comeback on X, sharing his first column, which examines the channels of influence around former Prime Minister Imran Khan, including the role of Bushra Bibi.

Husain’s column reflects his analytical approach to political developments and the inner workings of Pakistani power structures, drawing attention from both readers and fellow journalists.

From Politics Back to Journalism

Husain left journalism in 2022 when he stepped down as Islamabad resident editor at Dawn to serve as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. His move into policymaking drew both attention and criticism, and he resigned from that role a year later to join PNN. His return to the Express Media Group marks a renewed focus on reporting, analysis, and commentary.

New Venture at Express Media Group

Husain is also working on launching a new English-language channel under the Express Media Group, which previously closed two similar ventures. The channel is expected to target a diverse audience and strengthen the group’s English-language news offerings in a competitive media landscape. Industry observers note that the launch could signal renewed investment in digital and broadcast journalism in Pakistan, as English-language channels continue to attract both local and international viewership.

Analyst Moeed Pirzada commented on Husain’s career choices, noting that his professional profile as a journalist, editor, and writer was more suited to media than policymaking.

With his return, Fahd Husain re-establishes himself as a key voice in Pakistani journalism, combining political insight with editorial rigor while preparing to expand the Express Media Group’s reach through new initiatives in English-language broadcasting.

KEY POINTS:

  • Fahd Husain returns to writing for The Express Tribune after a brief political stint.
  • Husain served as Special Assistant to PM Shehbaz Sharif before returning to the media.
  • Moeed Pirzada commented on Husain’s government role and media background.
  • Husain plans a new English-language channel with Express Media Group.
