ISLAMABAD: Photojournalist Huma Choudhary, 30, who worked with The Express Tribune died Saturday in Islamabad.
Her paper reported she was on an official assignment in the United Arab Emirates when she fell sick, probably because of food poisoning.
She flew back to Islamabad Saturday morning and was hospitalized where she passed away. Choudhary previously worked for a bank and the development sector but later switched to journalism.
In an interview published in the US Embassy's magazine Khabar-o-Nazar last March, she said she had a deep passion for photography although she did not study it formally.
"Bringing various prevalent human rights issues of my country (such as illiteracy, discrimination based on gender and faith, child labor, health and religious extremism) in the limelight and subsequently playing my role in their alleviation is what motivated me to join this field," she said in the interview.
Choudhary was a graduate of the Lahore School of Economics. She joined The Express Tribune in 2014.
