Express Tribune kills another story

The Express Tribune has taken down a contentious article involving Zulfiqar Mirza's allegations against Asif Zardari. The removal came after Mirza's family threatened legal action.

ISLAMABAD: The Express Tribune has taken down yet another story from its website following severe criticism from Dr Zulfiqar Mirza’s family and Pakistan Peoples Party’s top leadership.

The paper published the story, “Asif Zardari killed Benazir: Zulfiqar Mirza,” a couple of days ago and has now removed the same from its website.

A source tells JournalismPakistan.com that Mirza’s family personally approached the paper’s management and clarified that he didn’t say anything like that. “A family member of Mirza asked the paper’s management to remove the story; otherwise a libel suit would be filed against them in the court,” he said.

“This is mischievous, all other differences aside my father does not believe that AZ (Asif Zardari) had a hand in his wife's murder,” Shezreh Mirza, daughter of Zulfiqar Mirza tweeted Tuesday in response to The Express Tribune story.

The Tribune has had to take down at least three other stories in the past two months.
