ISLAMABAD—The Electronic Media Reporters Association (EMRA) has offered to help the Press Club of India and the Chandigarh Press Club fight the deadly COVID-19.
EMRA President Asif Butt, in separate letters to the clubs, has expressed intention to send safety kits for journalists on the frontline of the fight against coronavirus.
“We are very sorry to hear about the exceptionally heavy impact that the pandemic has had on India. It is learned that the journalist community has also been affected because they are fighting as frontline workers,” the EMRA president wrote.
The association has sought the number of safety kits required by the clubs.
Fifty-two Indian journalists died of COVID-19 in April alone, according to a report published in news18.com.
